Results

Between January and June 2022, we investigated 1,326 broken links on the client’s website.

We fixed 1,008 broken links.

The discrepancy between investigated and fixed links is due to content updates (and links being removed) in the time period between the broken link report being generated and our team working on fixing the links.

I have been working with Webcertain now for over seven years. They have been covering a whole raft of projects for us, from SEO investigations to day-to-day support for our in-country teams. The team is responsive, efficient and diligent in the work they do and we could not operate in all the countries we do without their support.

Senior Digital Marketing Architect, Anonymous software client.

 Challenge

The client is a leading international B2B software brand. The company operates globally and has a large international website targeting over 100 countries.

With such a huge number of webpages, the client needed help with investigating and fixing broken links on its website, in order to avoid these negatively impacting the website rankings and user experience.

 Solution

Webcertain agreed to investigate and fix broken links for 36 countries on a monthly basis.

Execution

  1. A broken link report was provided by the client on a weekly basis.
  2. Webcertain then investigated the reported broken links and replaced them within the content management system, either with a new link which covered the same topic, or with a link to the most similar/relevant content (where needed, we also adjusted the content surrounding the link and the anchor text), or by fixing the reason behind why the link was broken (e.g. extending expired assets).
  3. The client received an Excel report every month, detailing the URL of the page where the link was broken, the position/section where the broken link was on the page, and any replacements/fixes implemented.
