How an SEO competitor analysis works
The process begins by completing a briefing questionnaire to clarify your website URL, the competitors you want us to analyse, and the market areas and keywords you want the analysis to focus on. This briefing will be visible to all the team members involved with delivering the analysis and is the foundation for all our quality checks. If you do not know the competitors you want to analyse, we will choose the ones which we feel are appropriate. If you do not know the keywords you want us to focus on, please order keyword research separately.
An SEO Strategist will carry out the analysis on your chosen competitors' websites, firstly running competitor ranking reports on the supplied keywords (or those discovered through keyword research). After analysing this data, they will then perform the rest of the audit, checking your competitors' websites for the following SEO factors:
- search engine saturation and rankings
- link popularity and backlink structure
- domains and hosting
- page titles and meta tags
- on-page elements
They will also provide recommendations on how you can improve on-page and off-page aspects of your own website's SEO.
We will send you the contents of audit in a PDF file, along with appendices with additional data in an Excel spreadsheet.
