Tencent has launched a new suite of advertising solutions that allow US advertisers to directly target Chinese users. US advertisers can now directly engage with Chinese Tencent users both in China and when they travel abroad. In order to properly support US advertisers, Tencent has set up a dedicated support team based in the US. The opportunities this opens up to US advertisers are immense. Chinese mobile internet users spend over 55% of their time online on Tencent platforms such as WeChat, QQ, Qzone, Tencent News and Tencent Video. A spokesperson from Tencent outlined why US advertisers should care about the Chinese market, saying: “China is projected to be the largest overseas inbound travel market to the US by 2021, so the potential for growth is truly extraordinary”.
