Over Half Of People Worldwide Are Not Online

A UN report about online use across the globe has revealed that over half people on Earth do not use the internet. The study has shown that 53% of the world's population does not currently use the web, although this is a slight increase on the same study from 2015. However, the United Nations has expressed concerns about the high number of people still not using the internet, something found to be caused by serious economic and geographic disparities. This issue was found to be particularly concerning when comparing individual continents. Whilst nearly 80% of Europeans were online, only 25% of African citizens had access to the same technology. Access was also found to be low in both Asia and the Arab states, where just 41% of people used the internet in both regions.
