A study conducted by App Annie has shown that 70% of global smartphone users are downloading at least one new app each month. Using data collected from all over the world, it was also found that in half of all countries analysed for the study, more than half of users downloaded more than two apps each month. Asia Pacific was found to be the fastest growing market, with three of the five countries which downloaded the most apps per month, per person, coming from the region. This is thought to be due to the fact that the market is largely mobile-first, with smartphones representing users' “first-ever and only access to the internet”, encouraging users to explore app options further. App Annie said that the data “indicates that the majority of users have an appetite for new apps that isn't sated by an occasional download”.
