Microsoft and Amazon Digital Assistants To Communicate

Microsoft and Amazon have agreed a deal that will see both companies' digital assistants become able to talk to each other. The partnership represents the first time two major manufacturers of the technology have enabled this ability. The deal was called a “win-win” situation by an industry analyst, who said it helped both companies “fortify their own positions” in the industry. Confirming the news, Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos tweeted that the digital assistant “Alexa has made a new friend”. Microsoft acknowledged that whilst “competitive tech firms do not traditionally co-operate”, “ensuring [the digital assistant] Cortana is available for [their] customers everywhere and across any device is a key priority for [them]”.
