The social media app Line is losing users as its popularity falls. According to the social network's latest earnings report, it has lost 2 million users across Indonesia, Thailand and Taiwan in just the last quarter. It only managed to increase its number of users in its home market of Japan, where it attracted 1 million new users in the same three-month period. This overall decline in users puts Line's user numbers at 203 million, a figure which has been falling since in the end of 2016. Profits are also in decline at the company, thanks largely to increased operating expenses; Line's profits have fallen by 42% in the last year. It is not all bad news for Line though. Despite the fading popularity of its main social media app, several spin-offs are seeing growing momentum, including Line Pay, Line News, Line Manga, Line Music and Line Shopping.
