JD.com Uses Drone Deliveries In Rural China

The Chinese ecommerce giant JD.com is using drone deliveries to help with rural ecommerce in the country. Drones take items from JD's major distributions centres to smaller centres in more rural areas. From there, a contractor picks up the device and takes the item to the customer's doorstep. In a report from the OECD, it was found that rural areas of China have become more affluent in recent years, and that the percentage of orders from smartphones now exceeded 90%.
