Amazon Rainforest To Be Connected To The Internet

A plan to connect the Amazon Rainforest to the internet is going ahead after some initial delays. The Connected Amazon project aims to connect communities living in the region to the internet using 8,000 kilometres of fibre optic cabling. The cables will be laid at the bottom of rivers and will connect the towns of Manaus, Coari and Novo Airão to the internet. There are further plans in the pipeline to connect even more remote regions of the rainforest using an additional 1,000 kilometres of cabling, although it is not clear where or when exactly this will take place.
