YouTube Stops Blocking Music Videos In Germany

YouTube has ended a seven-year stalemate with a German rights group. The dispute between the video site and Gema was caused by a disagreement about musicians' rights in the country, and whether YouTube or the uploader was responsible for paying up. However, this has now been resolved following an undisclosed payment, meaning that German music fans will no longer be blocked from seeing many music videos on the site. Christophe Muller, YouTube's head of international music partnerships, said that it was a “win” for both “music artists around the world” and “YouTube users in Germany”.
