Worldwide Mobile Internet Traffic Patterns Revealed

Research by ScientiaMobile has revealed patterns in mobile internet traffic worldwide. The study found that tablets take a higher percentage of mobile web traffic in developed countries, compared to developing countries. For example, whilst tablets make up 19% of mobile traffic in Oceania, and 16% in North America and Europe, this figure falls to 9% in Africa and South America, and just 2% in the Asia Pacific region. Smartphones make up the vast majority of the rest, with feature phones typically making up less than 1% of mobile web traffic. The exception to this rule is Africa, where feature phones account for 6% of all mobile web traffic. The results have implications for website design.
