The messaging app WhatsApp has launched a new service for businesses. It has launched an app called WhatsApp Business which allows companies to create business profiles on WhatsApp. The business profiles provide customers with information such as the business' physical address, email address, website and company description. Business profiles can also send messages to customers, and have access to extra tools such as greeting messages, away messages, and quick replies which provide answers to frequently asked questions. It is also possible for businesses to send and receive messages from a desktop via a web interface. Business accounts will be labelled as such in WhatsApp, and over time it will be possible for these accounts to be verified. WhatsApp Business is available for free on Android in the US, the UK, Italy, Mexico and Indonesia. It is expected to be rolled out worldwide in the coming weeks.Â
