WeChat And McDonald's Test Mobile Payment Scheme

WeChat and McDonald's have signed a new deal that will affect restaurants in Johannesburg. The fast-food chain and the chat app have set up a pilot scheme to test a potential new form of payment across South Africa. If successful, WeChat Africa will extend the use of their digital payment service and introduce a new Quick Pay system, meaning that customers will be able to use their WeChat Wallet when purchasing food. Money will also be able to be sent between friends, the wallet will be able to be topped up, and users will be able to purchase goods at around 30,000 merchants in the country.
