Mobile Dominates The Ecommerce Landscape

Research by Criteo has found that mobile is dominating the ecommerce landscape. A spokesperson from the company said: “Mobile commerce has reached a turning point and is surpassing desktop”. Furthermore, smartphones have overtaken tablets as the most popular mobile device for making online purchases in all major markets, for the first time ever. Mobile commerce was found to be especially popular in Australia, Japan and South Korea, with these countries coming top for both the proportion of mobile online transactions and the proportion of mobile-friendly sites. The study found that apps were more effective than mobile sites when it came to conversions, with apps seeing around three times as many conversions on average.
