The professional social network LinkedIn has launched a special version of its mobile website in India, called LinkedIn Lite. LinkedIn Lite is stripped back to be extremely lightweight when it comes to its code, meaning that it can load four times faster than the normal site. This is useful because India tends to have slow mobile internet speeds and connectivity problems. LinkedIn has also launched LinkedIn Placements, which aims to connect students with top Indian companies for work placements, and LinkedIn Starter Pack, which aims to assist Indian start-ups and small to medium-sized businesses. India is LinkedIn’s second biggest market after the US, with 37 million users.
