Google launches AR tech in China

Google has launched its so-called ARCore technology in China. ARCore is an app that enables mobile phones to use virtual reality and augmented reality. The app is now available to Chinese users via the Xiaomi App Store. It is also confirmed to be coming to Huawei and Samsung handsets in the future. This is a bold step from Google, whose app store, search engine and many other services are blocked in China. By partnering directly with Chinese mobile manufacturers to launch the app, Google is hoping to avoid the interference of Chinese censors. Google has shown renewed interest in China lately. In the last few months, it has agreed to invest in several Chinese start-ups and announced an upcoming AI lab in the country.
