Google Updates App Store Ranking Algorithm

Google has announced that it has altered the ranking system in its Google Play app store in order to help better performing apps to rank higher. The change means that apps which crash less and use up less battery are now ranked higher, in order to encourage developers to limit these issues. Users also benefit from the change by being able to more easily access the best apps, which in turn helps increase app engagement. Google has advised developers seeking to improve their app performance (and therefore increase their rankings) that they should use the Play Console to identify and fix quality issues. The company has said that the change is part of its “continued effort to deliver the best possible Google Play experience” for users.
