Google Set To Introduce Stricter Ad Controls

Google has announced the introduction of stricter controls over online adverts. This comes after concerns were raised by companies advertising on Google that their brands were appearing on illegal websites. Google says that its AdSense technology will now be able to remove adverts from individual pages rather than entire sites, as it has done in the past. The search company's policies ban things such as pornography and the sale of weapons, but it has historically been reluctant to ban entire sites from its advertising network unless rules were being repeatedly broken. This reluctance had increased the risk that criminals were profiting from advertising. However, now that Google has the ability to remove adverts from single pages, the search engine says it will be much stricter in the application of its rules.
