Google Launches AdSense Targeting Beta Test

Google has launched an AdSense User First beta test, to see if fewer ads and better targeting can bring more profit to advertisers. A handful of businesses have reported receiving invitations from Google to take part in the beta test on both AdSense and AdMob. The invitation told recipients that they had been invited to the “beta program because [they offer] visitors a good web experience”. The test intends to focus more on ad relevancy and personalisation, and will aim these changes at signed-in users on the Google Display Network. Google says that “visitors who are signed into Google will see ads that they'll want to engage with more”. However, in order to be eligible for the test, publishers must commit to using only AdSense ads on their site. As the test moves forward, though, participants will be able to access new features and formats before others.
