Clothes Are Most Popular Cross-Border Purchase

A report has shown that clothing is the most commonly bought foreign product online. The survey was performed by PayPal and Ipsos and showed that nearly half of all cross-border online buyers across the globe had purchased items of clothing from other countries. This was far ahead of the next most popular category: consumer electronics. Most other categories were purchased abroad by around one fifth of consumers, such as toys, cosmetics and digital entertainment items. The number of consumers buying cross-border is steadily rising and is expected to hit 25% over 2015 by the end of the year. This is in part due to the increasing number of online buyers, meaning retail ecommerce is forecasted to make up a full 10% of all retail sales in 2017.
