Baidu has completed an acquisition of Raven Tech, a Chinese company known for the development of its AI assistant technology.
As part of the acquisition, Baidu now has control over all Raven Tech technology and its 60 employees.
The AI assistant has been compared to Apple's Siri, or Amazon Alexa, although it has failed to take off in China.
This comes at the same time that Baidu has started its own business that is set to run its Duer digital assistant.
Raven Tech's CEO, Cheng Lu, has said that his business will now âwork with the Duer team on new product developmentâ.
Baidu recently closed its own medical unit in order to focus more heavily on its own AI technology.
