Despite its size, Amazon is not expected to overtake Flipkart in India's ecommerce market until at least 2019. Due to Flipkart's long standing success in India, competitors have struggled in the past to chip away at its success, which now equals a 44% market share and 50 million app downloads. Each Amazon move has been responded to quickly, with features such as Flipkart Assured being launched to fight Amazon Prime. Amazon is reportedly set to hit 5.5 billion US dollars this year, after which it is set to generate 81 billion dollars by 2025, a target which Flipkart may struggle to meet.Â
