23% Of German Companies Engage In Ecommerce

Research by Destatis has found that 23% of companies in Germany now engage in ecommerce. In the study, ecommerce was classified as any sale made through a website, app or electronic data exchange. Companies that engaged in ecommerce typically made 19% of their revenues via online channels, although this figure changed depending on the size of the business. Small businesses typically made 26% of their revenues through ecommerce, whilst this fell to 23% for medium-sized businesses and 18% for large businesses. The study also found that 81% of sales were to customers in Germany, whilst customers from other EU countries accounted for 14%.
