Why is it important to identify gaps?

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is an ongoing process which should constantly be monitored and improved in order to attain the best search engine rankings possible. Once you have optimised your website, you should try to identify keywords that you are missing or not ranking well for, as this can inform the next stage of your SEO efforts.

We will analyse your current ranking positions in comparison with the ranking positions experienced by your competitor, include the data on the keyword search volume and the performance data of your pages, and conduct an analysis in order to identify relevant keyword gaps in the market. We will provide you with a list of keywords that you should target to gain rankings and increase website traffic along with strategic advice regarding content and landing pages.

Furthermore, we will anlayse the keywords gaps and categorize these into different topic clusters, around which you will be able to create new content, and ensure that you are offering your users all the information they need about a certain topic. 

How it works

The process begins by completing a briefing questionnaire to clarify your objectives. This briefing will be visible to all the team members involved with delivering the service and is the foundation for all our quality checks. We will need access to your Webmaster Tools account.

An SEO Strategist will use a variety of tools to gather the data on your performance in SERP, and compare it to your main competitor ranking data. This data will allow them to identify relevant search terms you are currently missing while they have been targeted by your competitor. Moreover, they will work on identifying keywords for which your website is currently underperforming in terms of visibility in SERP, compared to your competitor. The identified underperforming search terms will then be divided into different priority groups, based on your current ranking position, traffic these bring to your website, and the estimated effort to improve the ranking position.

All these, underperforming and keywords you are currently missing in SERP are identified as keyword gaps, which will be delivered to you in an Excel report, that you will be able to use further when planning your content strategy. However, if needed, an SEO Specialist can provide tactical recommendations as to whether you should add these keywords by optimising the content of your existing pages, adding new supportive content to pages, or creating new landing pages.

Additionally, an SEO specialist can assess the gap search terms, and group these into different topic clusters, so that new content can be created in order to increase the visibility in the SERP.
