Google Analytics | Configuration review

Ensure you have robust and clean data informing your digital decision-making

Clean and robust data shouldn't be optional

Google Analytics is a very powerful website analytics tool. Clean robust data is vital. It underpins your digital business. Don't let erroneous or incomplete configuration hinder your opportunity to succeed. The configuration review service ensures that you can rely on the data you collect, as we check that each key element is correctly and completely configured.

A Google Analytics configuration review can help...

  • 1

When you use Google Analytics to measure your website performance.

  • 2

When you are concerned that the data you see in Google Analytics may not be correct.

  • 3

When there are actions or events you'd like to record but you can't see them in Google Analytics.

  • 4

When you're about to configure a new Google Analytics profile.

  • 5

When you've made recent changes to a website measured by Google Analytics.

  • 6

When you've not had the 'health' of your Google Analytics profile checked recently.

Corrupted data means decision-making risk

Google Analytics is a very powerful website analytics tool.

It measures almost everything that happens on your website. It enables you to discover how your users interact with your website, which in turn helps you to make decisions about how well or otherwise your website is performing against your objectives.

However, if your configuration doesn't match best practice standards you may not be collecting the right data or clean data.

Common configuration issues include (but are not limited to):

  • failing to filter out all non-genuine user activity e.g. your own teams
  • failing to filter out crawlers, which create spam visits
  • not setting up goals or events correctly, or even at all
  • incorrect time zone settings
  • inconsistencies across different views
  • configuration of a testing environment
  • inconsistent channel and campaign naming through utm coding

All of these (and more) will result in collecting misleading data, which by default creates risk that the decisions you make based on the 'insights' gained from it are poorer or less effective than they might be.

The outcome will be an appraisal of your current configuration, alongside any recommendations to improve the configuration and a costed proposal to implement them, should you wish us to do so.

You may wish to consider a training session or programme for your marketing and/or web teams to improve their understanding and usage of Google Analytics.

Next step...

We'll start by asking you some questions via our briefing questionnaire, which will include key data that you'll need to provide to us.

Upon ordering, we'll need you to 'invite' us to see the relevant Google Analytics Account(s), Property(ies) and View(s).

Once we're clear about the configuration you need, we'll set about checking the configuration in detail against this.

As we progress through the review, we'll compile your report, detailing where improvements are needed and provide a costed proposal for implementing them, should you wish us to do so.
