The importance of reviewing machine translations
In certain circumstances, it may have been necessary for you to use machine translation (MT) as part of your localisation strategy. In such an instance, it is advisable that you include an element of human post-editing whereby the machine-generated content will be reviewed and amended where possible.
Please note that due to the unstable nature of MT there will be great variance in quality from language to language. As MT software needs to be “trained”, some languages are more successful than others, and will therefore require less post-editing at this stage.
We would advise that a translation review is initially carried out on a sample of your content in order to assess the overall quality, and allow us to build the most suitable solution to meet your MT requirements.
Please note that the outcome of the translation review may establish that it would better, and more cost effective, to re-translate your content completely from scratch based on the original source.
