Ensure consistent translations with a bilingual glossary

If you are about to embark on a translation project and you want to ensure that industry-specific terms are accurately and appropriately translated and maintained throughout your projects, it is a good idea to create a bilingual glossary of terms. We will create a bilingual glossary of terms, using your source text or existing glossary to identify the key terms and translate them into your target language. Once complete, the bilingual glossary will be sent to you for approval from your in-country teams.

Why are bilingual glossaries important?

Before embarking on a new translation project, it is important that all preparation stages are completed successfully as this will help the project to run smoothly. Depending on your business sector, there may be industry-specific terminology which needs to be adhered to and maintained throughout the translated literature.

Creating a bilingual glossary of these specialist terms is an excellent measure to take in such a situation, as it will result in consistency throughout the translated literature and also provide support for future projects.

We will create a bilingual glossary of industry-specific terms, delivering this to you to personally check and sign off prior to the start of a translation project with us.

How bilingual glossary creation works

The process begins by completing a briefing questionnaire to clarify your objectives. This briefing will be visible to all the team members involved with delivering the service and is the foundation for all our quality checks.

We will ask you to provide the source content that you require translating in order for terminology to be extracted. If you have an existing glossary of terms, then we will ask that you also make this available.

Your dedicated Project Manager will create the bilingual glossary. If you have an existing English glossary, then they will simply translate this into your target language. If you do not have an existing English glossary, then they will examine your source content and extract the relevant terminology from the text, translating this into your target language. The Project Manager may ask you to provide further clarification as and when required. They will provide a final version of the bilingual glossary to be signed off by your in-country teams, if available.

Please note that this service only includes the creation of a bilingual glossary and does not include any other preparation stages of the translation project. This is a one-off service to be carried out when embarking on a new working relationship with us. Any updates or terminology management will be charged at additional rates.
