TerraPay Launches Mobile Wallet Transfers In Uganda

TerraPay has confirmed that it has received approval from the Bank Of Uganda to enable global mobile wallet transfers into the country. TerraPay has said that Ugandans living in countries including the UK and the US can now transfer money back home through Airtel Money, MTN mobile money and Smart Pesa mobile money accounts via TerraPay partner stores. This follows permission granted earlier on this year to make payments from Uganda to other African markets such as Kenya and Tanzania. Ambar Sur, the founder and CEO of TerraPay, said that mobile payments were becoming increasingly widespread in Uganda, adding that the company wanted to provide “a seamless solution to enable cross-border transfers to mobile wallets across emerging markets”.
