Mobile Commerce Increasingly Popular In Malaysia

Mobile commerce is becoming increasingly popular in Malaysia. iPay88, a leading payment gateway provider in the region, says that 70% of all Single's Day sales done on Malaysia's three biggest ecommerce sites this year took place on mobile devices. Smartphone penetration in Malaysia currently stands at 70%, with this figure expected to increase in the future. As well as rising smartphone penetration, another key factor set to drive mobile commerce in the country is the introduction of mobile payments. Alipay recently launched in Malaysia, with WeChat Pay announcing in the last few weeks that it intends to launch in the country in 2018. As well as this, several banks are allegedly looking into launching QR code wallets.
