The ecommerce marketplace Wish has overtaken Amazon Prime Now as the top shopping app in Singapore. Since its launch, Amazon Prime Now had been the top shopping app in the country with little competition. However, earlier this month, Wish overtook the marketplace giant on both the Apple Store and the Google Play store. Wish specialises in shipping low-cost and unbranded goods directly from Chinese manufacturers to buyers, who can use platforms such as Facebook to use the service. Not long after its launch in 2015, Amazon itself approached Wish with an offer of a 10 billion US dollar acquisition, which was rejected by the smaller company. Alarmingly for Amazon, since Wish took the number one spot, the Amazon Prime Now app has fallen all the way to 5th place in the shopping app chart in just the following two weeks.
