UK Government Criticises Facebook

The social media giant Facebook has come under further criticism from the British authorities. Prime Minister Theresa May has responded to recent attacks in the country by calling for “democratic governments to reach international agreements that regulate cyberspace to prevent the spread of extremism”. Facebook has responded to the comments, with the company's policy director writing that the platform was “using a combination of technology and human review” in order to “remove terrorist content”. The company also added that “extremism can only be tackled with strong partnerships”, which it was working towards doing with “policymakers, civil society, and others in the tech industry”.
