South East Asia Sees Ecommerce Spending Boom

South East Asia is seeing consistent and large increases in ecommerce spending, due to growing rates of digital adoption. A report by Frost and Sullivan has predicted that the region's ecommerce value will grow from 11 billion US dollars in 2015, to 25 billion US dollars just five years later. This equals an annual growth rate of 17.7% over five years. Another recent study also showed the rate at which the region's countries are growing their own ecommerce sales, with Indonesia far ahead with a market value of 5.3 billion US dollars this year, followed by Thailand on 2.9 billion US dollars. This growth is due to the quick adoption of smartphones and digital services which have led to a rise in online shopping of a huge 80% in the three months leading up to December 2015.
