Payments On WeChat Skyrocketed In 2016

WeChat has released its data report for 2016. The report has revealed that online payments are skyrocketing on the platform. It looked at Red Packets, which are peer-to-peer payments made on WeChat, and found that over 2 billion Red Packets were sent on Chinese New Year alone, the highest number ever sent in one day on the platform. Looking at the average month, WeChat users typically made 28 Red Packet payments, totalling an average of 580 Yuan over the course of the month. The figures only looked at Red Packet payments, not WeChat Pay payments made to businesses, but they demonstrate just how comfortable WeChat users are becoming with making mobile payments, which spells good news for businesses.
