The number of websites using the country-code top-level domain for Nigeria has reached 100,000. The .ng domain is now the second most popular country-code top-level domain in the African continent, after South Africa's .za domain. A spokesperson from the Nigeria Internet Registration Association said that uptake of the .ng domain had been hampered by the common misconception amongst Nigerian website owners that generic top-level domains such as .com and .org are superior. The Nigeria Internet Registration Association has been working hard to bust this myth, and the 100,000 landmark suggests that the message is finally getting through.Â
