Jumia Aims To Boost Numbers Taking Part In Black Friday

The Nigerian ecommerce company, Jumia, is aiming to boost visitor numbers significantly for this year's sales period. The Black Friday event in the country is taking place this year from the 14th to the 24th of November, and Jumia is targeting more than 6 million unique visitors to the site. Last year during the sale, Jumia saw only 2 million unique visitors, but Chief Commercial Officer Thomas Simonet said that “some customers have delayed their sales with the expectation [of a] fall in prices”. He also added that the sale will “serve as a channel for vendors to make more sales…and for shoppers to purchase commodities at low rates”. The site has increased the time period that items will be cheaper for, from just one day last year to twelve days this year.
