Google Announces Surprise Restructure

11 August 2015.Google has restructured its business, creating a parent company called Alphabet. Google will still be in charge of its most well-known businesses, including its search engine, app store, Android operating system and YouTube. Newly-created Alphabet will in charge of Google's less search-related projects, such as its drones, autonomous cars, smart-home Nest technology, and healthcare research. The restructuring will not affect Google's search engine or have any impact on marketers using Google products such as Google AdWords or Analytics for their marketing campaigns. In a blog post on the official Google blog, founder Larry page said that the restructuring will help to make things “cleaner and more accountable,” adding that, “The whole point is that Alphabet companies should have independence and develop their own brands”. The restructuring also means that a reshuffle of people at the top. Larry Page is Alphabet's CEO, Sergey Brin is the President, and Eric Schmidt is the executive chairman. Meanwhile, Sundar Pichai has become the new Google CEO.
