Facebook Usage Falls Dramatically In The US

Facebook usage has almost halved in the last year

Facebook usage is falling dramatically in the US, according to research by Verto Analytics. The study found that Facebook usage has almost halved in the last year. Whilst in 2016, the average American user spent 32 hours and 43 minutes on the social network each month, in 2017 this fell to 18 hours and 24 minutes. This was due to people logging in less often, rather than people spending less time on the social network per visit. In contrast, Snapchat saw a strong boost both in the number of times users logged in and the length of time spent on the platform per visit. Meanwhile, Twitter and Facebook Messenger saw no real change in the number of times users logged in, although users spent longer on the platforms this year compared to 2016.
