Facebook has announced a batch of updates to its Slideshow ads product. Slideshow ads show a series of still images in a slideshow format and are more lightweight than video ads, making them ideal for targeting video-like ads to users in areas with slow internet speeds. Advertisers can now add text to their slideshow ads, as well as music from Facebook’s own audio library and photographs from Facebook’s stock image library. It’s also now possible to upload a video, from which Facebook will automatically choose 10 still images to be used in the Slideshow ad. Another useful feature is that Slideshow ads can be created directly from an Android phone, making it quick and easy to get campaigns running. Slideshow ads are available to all advertisers on Facebook and Instagram.
