Facebook Rolls Out New Video Platform

Facebook has begun rolling out its new video platform across the US. The platform, called Watch, will allow people to choose from hundreds of Facebook-produced and funded shows. The company has been readying the service by paying content creators to produce 20- to 30-minute shows, which will be present on the platform at launch. Following its launch, Facebook also has plans to make content creation an option for all users. Watch will replace the current video tab on Facebook on all mobile, desktop and smart TV devices. The launch of the service represents a further advertising opportunity for the company, as its News Feed has been said to have “run out of advertising space”.
