The Egyptian ecommerce site Yaoota has seen massive growth, going from 70,000 monthly visitors last year to 1.1 million monthly visitors currently. The site says that it is due to the rapidly rising popularity of ecommerce in the region. One of the reasons why ecommerce is doing so well in Egypt is that the country has a very young population. A large proportion are aged under 30, with this age group also being the one most likely to use smartphones and buy online. Egypt also has more internet users than any other Arab country, with 48 million people online. This number has huge potential grow even further, as the country's population is approximately 90 million. According to estimates by Payfort, the Egyptian ecommerce market will hit 2.7 billion US dollars by 2020.Â
