Vilkas Group has reported that ecommerce in Finland is on the increase. The number of online orders in Finland grew by 8% in the last quarter of 2017, compared to the same period the year before. Furthermore, the Finnish postal service Posti delivered a record-breaking 37 million parcels last year. This was driven largely by a sharp increase in the number of people engaging in online shopping during the Christmas period. Some analysts had been worried about the potential impact of cheap foreign ecommerce companies entering Finland, as Finnish shoppers are very much driven by price. However, the results of the study seem to suggest that Finnish ecommerce businesses have managed to keep up with foreign competitors by cutting their own prices.Â
