A US start-up is enabling Latin American consumers to access US-only brands online. The company, called Iguama, has received 5 million US dollars of investment and now provides cross-border ecommerce for Latin American shoppers. Currently, the company services Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and more, with US brands at more competitive prices than they are currently available at in the region. Diego Fernandez, co-founder and CEO of Iguama, says that it plans to expand throughout more of Latin America, and has just launched its new mobile shopping assistant. He added that the attraction of the company lay in that fact that “a lot of Latinos like to go to Miami to buy their clothes. But [through Iguama], people who don’t have access to travel can have access to the US products in a convenient way”.
