Canadian Small Businesses Not Embracing Ecommerce

Research by PayPal has revealed that ecommerce is being held back in Canada because small businesses are not embracing online sales channels. According to the study, just 17% on small to medium-sized businesses are using online marketplaces or selling on their own websites. It was even shown that 71% of the SMBs who do not offer online or mobile payments would “never” consider selling online. The country's ecommerce industry is expected to be worth 42 billion Canadian dollars in 2018. The President of PayPal Canada said that PayPal was “actively collaborating with ecosystem players to help grow Canada's digital economy”. Another section of the survey found that the main concern from businesses was that they would not be able to maintain the same level of service when selling online, whilst online fraud was also a widespread worry.
