Amazon's Alexa coming soon to Windows PCs

Amazon has announced that its digital assistant Alexa will soon be coming to Windows PCs. The hardware companies Acer, ASUS and HP have all said that they intend to launch Alexa on their computers this year. The Windows PC version of Alexa will work in much the same way as it does on Amazon Echo speakers. It will be able to carry out tasks such as controlling the lights and reading the news. The move puts Alexa into direct competition with Microsoft's Cortana digital assistant, which until now has enjoyed a monopoly on Windows PCs. A spokesperson from Amazon commented on the news, saying: “This is a big step toward making Alexa available wherever customers might need her.â€Â
