Introducing Digital To Marginalised Communities

Mariéme Jamme founded I Am The Code in order to give young women in marginalised communities the ability to use and create new digital technologies.

You'll find out about:

  • How I Am The Code educates people
  • Why the UN is involved
  • The increase internet population in Africa

Raised in Senegal, Marieme taught herself to read and write at the age of 16. Now she runs I Am The Code, an organisation to help educate young women in Africa how to code and create their own digital fingerprint. Since its beginnings, it has become the only UN supported organisation of its type in the world.
