Overview

When embarking on a complex translation project which involves several layers of quality assurance it may be necessary to conduct some linguistic tests - scripted or non-scripted.

Localisation projects such as software, eLearning modules, eBooks, mobile applications, and documents which include some level of functionality, are likely to include some level of linguistic testing.

This will involve a native speaker QA checker, who will identify relevant linguistic and functional issues within the translated material. All issues raised will be delivered in a report ready to be implemented by either our team or yours.

We may ask you to provide available scripts or test plans to enable the QA checker to replicate specific scenarios during this stage in the translation workflow.

Quality process

The process begins by completing a briefing questionnaire to clarify your objectives. This briefing will be visible to all the team members involved with delivering the service and is the foundation for all our quality checks. We will need a draft version of the multilingual document after the desktop publishing stage.

A native speaker QA checker, under the supervision of your project manager, will conduct a through linguistic test of the translated content, looking for inconsistency, errors, missing translation, formatting issues etc. and following scripts or test plans if provided.

Any issues will be raised by marking these on a generated .pdf of the document and/or in a separate report ready for such changes to be implemented.

Findings will be reported to either our team, or yours, in order to make the necessary changes to the translation. Follow up testing may be required depending on the issues flagged, and multiple checks will be conducted until you are happy to sign off the project.

Please note that this service only covers the linguistic testing stage, it does not include any bug-fixing or implementation of the issues which arise.
