Website Code Quality Assessment

Problems with your website’s code can cause issues from both an SEO and user experience point of view. We will conduct an audit on your website code, assessing it for errors, efficiency and clarity. You will receive a report in a PDF or Word format, highlighting any problems as well as recommendations for solutions. We will also give your website code an overall rating.

Here’s when Website Code Quality Assessment can help!

  • 1

When your website loads particularly slowly

  • 2

When browsers highlight errors when your website is loaded

  • 3

When you want reassurance from an expert that your website is constructed correctly

The quality of your website’s code can have a big impact on its performance from both an SEO and user experience perspective, so it’s vital to ensure that your website code is as efficient and clear as possible.

We will conduct an audit of your website’s code (HTML / CSS / JavaScript) in order to determine if it is compatible with current web standards and best practices. Website code will be checked in order to evaluate the code for errors, efficiency and clarity.

A report will be sent highlighting any issues and problems, with suggestions on how to improve the code. This report will be written in such a way that a non-programmer or developer will understand it.

Quality process

The process begins by completing a briefing questionnaire to clarify your objectives. This briefing will be visible to all the team members involved with auditing the code and is the foundation for all our quality checks.

A front-end developer and back-end programmer will check your website code for errors, efficiency and clarity.

We will identify code errors, and list in order of importance what those errors are, from urgent fixes to recommended fixes.

We will check the code for:

  • Page load speeds
  • Alternative, more efficient code solutions
  • Code duplication
  • Unnecessary tag code nesting (DIV and tables)

We will check the code to see how easy it is to understand and for other web developers to understand and work with:

  • Unnecessary white space
  • CSS tag naming (class and ID) - Easy to understand naming or obscure/ lazy naming protocols
  • Which browsers the website is compatible with

A report will be sent highlighting any issues and problems plus suggestions for improvements.

We will also give your website an overall grade:

  • Excellent - Very well constructed and programmed
  • Good - No problems, but we may have suggestions
  • Average - May have a few errors and we will suggest best practice
  • Poor - May have bad code and errors that affect the website in a negative way
  • Bad - Your site may be in need of immediate attention
