Yandex has announced a partnership with global Android handset manufacturers. The new deal means that the manufacturers involved will now preinstall Yandex Browser and Yandex Launcher onto the devices, in the hope of creating variety. This variety has been made possible by allowing manufacturers to customise the apps to fit their brand. Artem Fokin, from Yandex, explained that without the customisation, preinstalled apps can have “a negative effect on the user experience”. Those who are already signed up to the partnership include manufacturers and telecom companies in Europe, India, Latin America and Africa. Yandex will also share revenue within the partnership, allowing the other companies to profit from adverts within Yandex Zen, a component of Yandex Browser. They can also increase revenue with app recommendations in Yandex Launcher.Â
