Facebook Announces 360 Degree Broadcasting

Facebook is to introduce 360-degree video to its Live feature. The option for the live broadcasts is called Live 360 and will be available to users in the early months of 2017, although no specific date has yet been announced. Facebook says that the new feature will let users “explore on their own and experience a new environment”. Just like the standard Live system, videos will be broadcast live before becoming available to users via their homepage to watch later on. Live 360 has been first demonstrated with a broadcast from Facebook themselves on the 13th of December with National Geographic, live from the Mars Desert Research Station facility in Utah. The broadcast let viewers look around the facility's living quarters, and allowed question to be asked to the current inhabitants.
