Amazon Prime Hits Chinese Market

Amazon has launched its Prime service in the Chinese market. The free shipping service that is already available to customers in markets such as the UK and the US, will focus on enabling Chinese customers to purchase from abroad. However, unlike its American equivalent, the Chinese Amazon Prime service expects to take between five and nine days to deliver goods to buyers, whilst the subscription won't include any digital video services either. Another issue that Chinese customers may find off-putting is that goods worth over 2,000 Yuan, or 295 US dollars, will require even longer delivery. Named as the top internet retailer in world for 2016, Amazon is looking to make headway in the Chinese market against the established market leader, Alibaba, but has previously struggled to impact the 80% market share it holds in the country.
